Hello, Scout Day at the Capitol Friends!

DOWNLOAD THE SCOUT DAY APP NOW: https://michiganscouting.org/event-app/
Information Table:
There will be an information table set up near the front steps of the Capitol Building under the large tent. Please visit us. 😊 We will help answer your questions, help you with your tour information, and give a fun memento.
Tours:
Please check in at the information table if you need your tour confirmation time.
*Tour times are on the half hour to keep the flow of traffic moderated inside the Capitol building:
10:00 AM, 10:30 AM, 11:00 AM, 11:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 1:00 PM, 1:30 PM *PAUSED FOR REPORT TO THE STATE AT 12:00 PM* *Please join us for Report to the State at 12 PM*
To begin your tour, please walk through the main doors, which are underneath the Capitol Steps on the front lawn. You do not need to check in at the information table first unless you need assistance. However, please be sure to say hi to the info table at some point to get your welcome gift.
The Capitol requires 1 adult per 10 children. Please be sure to stay with your children and supervise while inside the building.
Capitol staff will be available during portions of your tour to assist you and give guidance on your self-guided tour.
Porta-Johns:
Three Porta-Johns, with one being handicapped accessible, will be available on the front lawn of the Capitol, between Ottawa and Allegan on Capitol Avenue. *Please use the porta-johns provided, as this is an outdoor event, and the Capitol asks us not to overwhelm the inside of the building with traffic, unless you are taking a self-guided tour.
Items to Bring:
- You may wish to bring a bag chair, blanket or portable chair if you would like seating in between activities, tours, and lunch. (Some seating with tables and chairs will be available on the lawn.)
- Sun Block
- Snacks and/or drinks (There will be two food trucks. Bring CASH OR CREDIT CARDS)
- Please do not bring anything that stakes into the ground – per Capitol rules, not allowed.
- An umbrella if the weather permits (We have one large tent. The event will continue if it rains.)
- Please do not bring pocket knives if you plan to enter the Capitol building
Dress Code:
- Scouts, please wear uniforms
Inclement Weather:
In the event of inclement weather, you will be notified via email as early as possible the morning of the event. Please check your email if you are questioning the weather for the day. If there is light rain and no storms, the event will remain, though some activities may be postponed until dry. We have tents.
Parking:
Parking can be found on city side streets (Allegan & Ottawa) and in parking structures surrounding the Capitol. For ease of metered parking, download the Passport Parking App now. I believe the parking structures take CC or Cash. Please bring both to be safe. You may also visit https://www.lansingmi.gov/393/Parking-Locations-Map to view available parking surrounding the Capitol Building. *Please note: Parking on the West side of Capitol Avenue, closest to the Capitol Building, will be closed, housing our activities and food trucks. Please do not try to park on the West side of Capitol Ave as these spots are reserved for our activities.
Thank you very much! We can’t wait to see you on June 9th!
